American Girl

Fuse proudly announces auditions for our upcoming production: American Girl by Mikki Gillette. American Girl depicts the tragic, true story of Nikki Kuhnhausen, a trans teen killed in a hate crime in Vancouver, WA in 2019. Based on extensive interviews with Nikki’s family and friends, it tells an all-too modern American story of addiction, homelessness, domestic abuse, sex work and murder. 


To be considered…


To be considered, please submit your headshot and/or resume (candid shots without resumes also accepted) as well as a video of a one to two minute contemporary monologue to auditions @ fusetheatreensemble.com. Submissions are due by November 3, 2022 by 5pm.


If you are unable to complete a video monologue but would still like to be considered, please don’t hesitate to send us an email and we can figure out an audition process that works for you.*

 

Callbacks will be scheduled as necessary. Pay is a $1,000 stipend.

Characters:


NIKKI – pre-cast
LISA - Nikki’s mom, 45, a cisgender woman; caring and co-dependent, she’s beautiful, but somewhat weathered from years of hard living.
KANE - Nikki’s dad, 50, a cisgender man; he has a practiced, intimidating air of danger, but his vitality’s been sapped by his heart condition.
CONRAD - Nikki’s brother, 23, a cisgender man; he’s hotheaded, and worn down despite his youth.
NICOLE - Kane’s girlfriend, 22, a cisgender woman; young and thin, she’s finds life and those around her consistently disappointing.
TIFFANY - trap house operator, 27,a cisgender woman; she’s detached and easy going, gratified by the sense of control her position offers.


Rehearsal & Production Dates and Location:

The Back Door Theater, Portland, OR
Rehearsals start approximately March 6th
Preview: April 6th
Opening: April 7th, Th-Sun performances
Closing: April 30 th
