A Note from the Scenic Designer:
If you have someone you would like to memorialize on this wall, there is chalk located at the front of house. Please feel free to walk up to the wall and add names, dates, and/or memories. We ask that you don't include full names to help protect the identities of those being memorialized and that you try not to cover existing art or other names.
Every other image on this wall is either a reference to Keith Haring, David Wojnarowicz, or Jean-Michel Basquiat with the exception of a few small Rusty Tennants. Each of the posters is an authentic late 80’s/early 90’s image. It is, in essence, a collage of research… and memories.
I hope you will use this wall and this show to remember. Walls have often served as places for us to gather and remember. From the Vietnam Memorial to the fences after 9/11 to the steps of schools or dance clubs, we gather at walls, we decorate them with pictures and sayings, we leave things, sometimes parts of ourselves….to remember.
Special Thanks
